– Never too late: Older kids may also learn faster and progress quicker

Why Enrol Your Child in Toddler Swimming Lessons?

What Your Toddler Will Learn: Our Progression Stages

Our toddler lessons follow a clear, staged progression built around Singapore’s SwimSafer 2.0 programme, so you can see exactly how your child develops. Every toddler moves at their own pace. Some settle into the water quickly, others need more time to build trust. Our coaches guide each child by readiness, and introduce the right fundamentals early so toddlers transition smoothly into our [kids’ group classes](insert link) – some even before turning 5.

Comfortable Progression at Your Child's Pace

Every toddler learns differently, so our coaches guide each one individually. With classes capped at six children per coach, your little one always gets the attention they need to progress confidently.

What to Bring to Your Toddler's First Lesson

A little preparation makes your toddler’s first lesson smoother and more comfortable. Here is what to bring:
  • Swim diapers – pack two, in case of an accident before or during the lesson (required at the pool for hygiene).
  • Regular diapers, wipes, and a wet bag – for changing after class and storing wet swimwear and towels.
  • Snug-fitting swimwear, a towel, and a change of clothes – goggles too, if your child is comfortable wearing them.
  • Your own swimwear – our toddler classes are parent-accompanied, so one parent should be ready to enter the water.
  • A small floating toy – if your child feels nervous, something familiar like a bath toy helps them settle in.
  • Arrive 10 minutes early – this gives your toddler time to settle in before the lesson begins.

If your child is between 2 and 4.5 years old (based on date of birth), they will be suitable for our toddlers’ swimming class.

If your child is at least 4.5 years old, they will be suitable for our kids’ swimming class.

Class size

For our toddlers’ swimming class, we limit the class size to a maximum of 6 students.

For kids’ swimming classes, we follow the SwimSafer guideline, with a maximum of 10 students per class at ActiveSG pools and 8 students at Isplash @ The Chevrons.

Syllabus

We follow a syllabus designed explicitly for various age groups.

We offer a wide range of lessons for all ages and skill levels, such as programmes for toddlers, kids, and adults, as well as ladies-only classes. You can choose between fun, sociable group lessons or personalised one-on-one private sessions to match your learning style and goals.

For toddlers’ swimming classes, we require at least one parent to accompany their child to the pool for the first few lessons to reduce their anxiety.

We do not require parents to be in the pool for the kids’ swimming class.

Our toddler lessons are structured around Singapore’s national water safety programme, SwimSafer 2.0. This ensures a high-standard, progressive curriculum that prioritises water safety and survival skills before moving on to stroke techniques. It’s a proven, MOE-endorsed syllabus designed to build confident and safe swimmers.
We keep our group classes small to ensure effective coaching and maintain a safe environment. While the exact ratio varies by skill level, our priority is providing focused attention.

Yes, absolutely. It is very common for toddlers to feel cautious or fearful at the start. Our coaches ease them in gradually through play-based activities, never forcing anything. The goal in early lessons is simply building comfort and trust with the water.

For children who are more resistant, parents may bring a small floating toy, such as one used during bath time. Familiar items can help them feel safer and more willing to participate.

Our toddler lessons are designed around movement, games, and simple water activities. At this age, children learn best when the lesson feels like play, so we keep the activities short, purposeful, and engaging.

From time to time, when a child is ready, our coach may guide parents to step back briefly or observe from the side. In our experience, some toddlers focus better and become more independent when given a little space.

It happens, and it is completely okay. Toddlers can have good days and difficult days in the pool. Our coaches are experienced in reading each child’s mood and adjusting the lesson accordingly.

Sometimes this means slowing down, changing the activity, or simply giving the child time to settle. We do not push through distress. The aim is to help your child build confidence at a pace they can accept.
